Member of the Citizens Advisory Committee to Public Counsel, which serves as a citizen advocate before the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission for utilities issues, particularly energy and telecommunications. Appointed by the Attorney General. (1996-2004) Representing public libraries and Internet Service Providers.

Served on the Citizens Advisory Council for the Economic Element of the City of Bainbridge Island's Comprehensive Plan, (1996-1997). Promoted information infrastructure issues before the City. Spoke to the Bainbridge Island City Council on a number of occasions.

Volunteer (Communications), Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management, (2006-) Registered with the State of Washington as an emergency worker.
